Our family is proud to have owned and operated North Glass Windows & Doors since 1958 when Gene North and his wife Donna started the business in Felton, CA. Glazier Gene North was very well known throughout the San Lorenzo Valley as a kind and honest man, who did quality work for a good value, and often did pro bono jobs for folks who just couldn’t afford to get their broken window fixed, families who needed a helping hand and local charities and churches. Gene and Donna ran the business with honesty and integrity, principles that we are proud to know we still put into every project we work on today.
Daughter Elizabeth and sons Jeffery and David, all born and raised in Santa Cruz County, each began working at the shop after school when they were about 13 years old, going out on jobs with dad and learning the old fashioned way of doing things correctly, not just fast. Gene and Donna trained each one to be glaziers who put their best into every project and to do the quality work you’d want in your own home. They not only passed on knowledge and skill, but their values. In 1974 the business moved to its current location in downtown Ben Lomond, CA. We were the first dealers in Santa Cruz County of all the major window and door brands that we still use today, building valuable relationships and gaining hugely beneficial product knowledge that is unmatched is this area. From UCSC to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, North Glass Windows & Doors has been hired by businesses and homeowners throughout the county for our unsurpassed experience and fairness.
Now General Manager Elizabeth North, daughter of Gene, has over forty years experience and has been trusted by many homeowners and general contractors as the go-to source to complete any job, no matter how tough, with unparalleled integrity and expertise. The community has counted on Elizabeth for decades to provide straightforward and honest assistance.
Gene retired, but came back to work to help the community rebuild after the huge earthquake in 1989. Sadly, Gene North passed away in 1992, but the lessons he taught us are still very much a part of this business. Customers ask about him often and are always quick to share a story about how he helped them out of a jamb, or tackled a seemingly impossible job, installing windows that are still holding up today.
We are now happy to have the third generation working with us and are delighted to be passing on the North family tradition of quality glazing and going above and beyond for customers.
